Dataset Elements
Updated over a week ago

Elements are the most granular object of your dataset. They are the fields that hold the account information. An element must always be placed in a group and you can easily resize and move elements to fit your needs.

To add a new element, you must first find or add an empty cell in the desired group. To do so, click any element close to where you want the new empty cell. The clicked element will be highlighted in blue and the element toolbar will appear above it. From here, you can add a new empty row below, by clicking the rightmost button in the toolbar, or a new column to the right of the highlighted element, by clicking the second to last button in the toolbar.

To remove an empty cell, highlight it and click the “X” button in the toolbar.

Once you have an empty cell, highlight it, and click the “+” button in the toolbar. You will be asked to select from a wide range of element types.

To update an element, highlight it and click the “edit” button in the toolbar.

To remove an element, highlight it and click the “remove” button in the toolbar.

Default elements can’t be removed, instead, you can hide them by changing their visibility.

Element types

Text field

Single line text field with options to set the minimum and maximum allowed characters.

Textarea field

Multi line text field with option to set the height in rows.

Numeric field

Field that only allows numbers with options to set a minimum and maximum allowed value and the option to enable or disable decimal numbers.

Currency field

Field that only allows numeric values that will be automatically formatted as currency.

Dropdown field

Field that allows an option to be selected from a dropdown. You may configure the allowed items for the dropdown. When needed, use the advanced editor to configure the numeric value associated with each item of the dropdown. This is very useful when using the value for calculated fields or for conditional visibility of other elements. If you want your clients and prospects to have the option of typing a custom value not present in the dropdown, enable the “Allow typing of custom values” option.

Multiple option

Field that allows a group of radio toggles or checkboxes. Radio toggles will allow only one option to be selected while checkboxes will allow multiple options to be selected. You may configure the allowed items for the group. When needed, use the advanced editor to configure the numeric value associated with each item of the group. This is very useful when using the value for calculated fields or for conditional visibility of other elements. You can show all options inline or display one option per row.

Phone field

Field to allow the input of phone numbers. It allows the selection of a country code and will automatically format and validate the phone number added.

Email field

Field to allow the input of email addresses. It will validate the format of the email automatically.

Address field

Group of fields to capture all the components of an address. It allows disabling certain parts of the address such as address lines, city, postal code, state, and country.

Percentage field

Field to allow the input of a percentage value with options to set the minimum and maximum allowed value as well as an option to enable or disable decimal values.

Date field

Field to capture a date. It shows a calendar when clicked and will automatically validate and format the selected date.

Year field

Field to capture a year. It shows a calendar when clicked and will automatically validate the year selected.

Calculated field

Calculated fields do not allow the user to input a value. Instead they perform a series of calculations using values from other elements. You can select to hide the calculated field by setting its visibility to hidden. Calculated fields will have one of three types: text, numeric and currency. Depending on the type, the operations available are different. Text calculated fields will allow you to join text elements together as well as calculate an age based on a date field. Numeric and currency fields will allow you to sum, subtract, multiply and divide numeric values. You can nest multiple operations together in the calculations editor.

Encrypted field

Field to capture sensitive information such as social security numbers. It allows selecting the minimum and maximum allowed characters as well as the amount of characters to display unencrypted. When a value is added to this field, it will automatically be encrypted in the system. The user’s password will be required to decrypt the value and see it in full.

Document upload

Field to allow the upload of documents.

Image upload

Field to capture images/photos. It allows the upload of an image file and will show that image resized to fit the current size of the element.

*Note: The editor is a powerful, advanced tool.  It will take some technical knowledge (and definitely patience) to understand it.  If you need help along the way, we are happy to point you to Knowledge Base articles and to provide quick responses.  We also can make ourselves available for web training/help via our consulting services offering (chat with us to find out more).
