Redtail Integration Overview

With our integration partner, Redtail, you can send information and also receive information into your PreciseFP account.

Updated over a week ago

This bidirectional, manually controlled integration is enabled within PreciseFP, rather than within RedTail.

Enable the integration by navigating to Settings (your profile photo in the lower left) > Integrations > click on the Redtail icon:

Click on Enable this integration:

Enter your Redtail credentials, then click 'Enable':

You should receive a pop-up message at the top of your screen confirming the integration was enabled. The integration will now show as 'Enabled' when viewed in Settings > Integrations.

Importing Data from Redtail into PreciseFP

Importing tips: If you are unable to find your client in the search make sure that they are listed as head of household in Redtail and that they also have an email address on file that is marked as preferred.  If one or both of those are missing they will not show up as an available record to import.

For an account to properly map into PreciseFP from Redtail, its 'Type' and Tax Qualified Type' must match according to this chart:

Click on Accounts > All Accounts, then click the green '+' in the upper right-hand corner:

Click to switch from Manual tab to the Import tab, select Prospect or Client, then click RedTail:

(If RedTail does not appear in this list, the integration is not enabled.)

Search for the client by last name only. Best practice is to import and existing RedTail record into PreciseFP prior to engaging the recipient within PreciseFP, as you will then have data to pre-fill your engagement with and the RedTail and PreciseFP records become linked. This link makes future exporting simpler.

**Importing tip: If you are unable to find your client in the search make sure that they are listed as head of household in Redtail and that they also have an email address on file that is marked as preferred.  If one or both of those are missing they will not show up as an available record to import.**

Select your client from the list of results and click 'Import':

From the contact record in RedTail, any mapped data will now be imported into PreciseFP. You will see an import report that will let you know which sections of each group of mappings were successful, empty, or unsuccessful.

Review your results, then click 'Close'.

The imported Account should now appear in your All Accounts list and in Prospects or Clients, depending on your selection upon import. You can review the imported data in their newly created Account Profile

Exporting Data to Redtail

Click on Accounts > All Accounts, then click on the record you would like to export. Note export will be one Account (household) at a time.

Click on the 'Export' option in Account details, pictured below:

Select RedTail:

Select whether you would like to create a new record in RedTail upon export or search for the existing RedTail record by last name.

Best Practice recommendation is to import the record from RedTail if it already exists prior to engaging the client within PreciseFP, as this creates a link between the two systems and makes the export process more efficient.

The system will show you each group of mappings and whether or not they are successful during the export process in a panel on the right.

(Note any errors, as some may make a suggestion as to what prevented the export, such as lacking a Last Name for one of the Children records within the Account Profile. In the profile you can make the suggested change and try the export again.)

You'll be able to see a log of the export on the Account Timeline, as well:
